INVISALIGN

At Changing Faces® you can choose to have your teeth straightened discretely with the Invisalign invisible braces system. This system of clear, removable aligners has helped thousands of patients straighten crooked teeth, close gaps and correct bite problems.

The Invisalign system utilises a series of small, comfortable and virtually invisible clear aligners that are changed every 2 weeks for a new set. Each aligner is individually made to fit your teeth perfectly as they move. As you progress and replace the aligners with the next one in the treatment cycle, your teeth move gradually until they have straightened into perfect alignment. The length of treatment varies between individuals but is typically between 12 to 18 months.

The clear aligners are easy to wear, take on and off, and often go unnoticed by friends and colleagues due to their transparent nature. In terms of convenience, they can be removed to facilitate eating, drinking and cleaning, meaning that they won’t interfere with your work or social life.

The Invisalign timeline

Week 1: Your free consultation

The first stage is to book a free consultation at Changing Faces® with our Invisalign dentist. At this appointment we will listen to you, discuss your suitability for Invisalign and answer any questions that you may have. We will provide you with a written treatment plan at this stage including costs and give you an indication of likely timescales.

Week 2: Diagnostics and records

At this appointment we take a series of x-rays, photographs and impressions of your teeth. These are then sent to the Invisalign laboratory in America so that a 3D digital animation of your treatment plan can be created called a ClinCheck®.

Week 4: Treatment plan and ClinCheck® review

Our Invisalign dentist will discuss your treatment plan with you and show you your 3D animation of how your teeth will move over time. Once you consent to proceed with treatment your aligners will be custom made in the Invisalign laboratory.

Week 6: Your first aligner is fitted

At this appointment you will be given a set of aligners and subsequent aligners for forthcoming weeks. You will be shown how to put them on, how to take them off and be given care instructions. You should wear your aligners for 22 hours each day, removing them only to eat and clean your teeth.

Week 8: Review appointments

Your review appointments will be scheduled at regular intervals as determined by your treatment plan. These meetings are where we will track your progress until your treatment is complete. At the end of your treatment you may decide to opt for teeth whitening to give you the perfect straight white smile.

The last stage of treatment is retention. After any teeth straightening procedure you must wear a retainer to ensure that your teeth do not start to move back to their original position. We offer either a removable retainer that you wear only at night or a fixed retainer fitted to the back of your teeth.
