Patient Information - Extended Measures Infection Control Policy at Changing Faces - 17th March 2020 – Issue 1
We care about YOU!
As you will be aware, we are currently in the midst of a global breakout of the Coronavirus, COVID-19.
As a Changing Faces patient, we would firstly like to assure you that we are and will, continue to do our upmost to ensure our clinic remains open and safe during this time. As a dental practice, we already have strict and monitored levels of cleanliness, infection control and sterilisation. In light of the current situation, we have added a couple of extra measures to ensure your own and our staff’s safety:
Before your appointment:
If you feel unwell and have a temperature, a cough or shortness of breath then please follow the latest guidelines and do not attend your appointment. You can let us know on 01564 732991 (you can call 24hrs a day) or by replying to your appointment reminder via text. The latest guidelines can be found at https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/
At present, we are asking that our patient’s attend their appointments alone (unless you are having sedation) to limit the number of people in the clinic. If you do have somebody travel with you then they won’t be permitted to wait in the practice/surgery for you.
When you arrive to your appointment:
We ask that you do not arrive too early for your appointment to avoid the patient lounge becoming crowded. If you do arrive early for your appointment, then please wait in your vehicle if possible and call the practice to let us know you have arrived.
When you come into the practice we ask that you wash your hands or use hand sanitiser to help and reduce and contamination within the clinic. You will also be asked again upon arrival if you feel well or have any symptoms.
You may notice that we have removed magazines, tooth pastes samples, thank you cards and information leaflets. If you do need some toothpaste samples let us know, we have plenty.
During your appointment
Please don’t be offended if we don’t shake your hand! We are refraining from this at the moment to help stop the spread of the virus. We also ask that you try not to touch your own face, eyes or mouth. For this reason, our dental professional will remove and replace any dentures for you in the surgery rather than you removing them yourself.
After your appointment
Any future appointments will be booked by your dentist/nurse within the surgery. Payments will still be made at the front desk. Small amounts can use contactless payments. You should use hand sanitiser/wash your hands again before leaving the surgery/clinic.
The situation is changing day by day so we will of course update you again if anything significant changes. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions.
In the next few days we will be implementing a new video consultation service so you can communicate with us rom the comfort of your own home. This will be available for existing and new patients and allow you to speak with our professionals face to face via pre booked video appointments. We will update you with all the information on this in due course!
