Sandi Dhanda, Dental Nurse
(GDC No. 221756)
I was fortunate to be brought up in a family full of healthcare professionals and have been in the healthcare industry since leaving school. I initially embarked on a career at Birmingham University as an adult nurse, but soon realised that role was not for me even though I wanted to work in healthcare. This is when I chose to go into dentistry, which is probably the best decision I have ever made!
I gained my dental nursing qualification and have since trained in implants, sedation, clinical dental photography and impression taking, and I am currently studying for my radiography qualification. I feel that if I am working in a role I should always aim to further my skill set to ensure that I can give the best possible care to my patients (and I’m a bit of a nerd). I believe we are constantly learning every day.
I have worked in various roles in dentistry at both the Dental Hospital and in community NHS clinics and hospitals, and as a manager running a busy practice. I have assisted in specialist Endodontics, Implant Surgery, Bone Grafts, specialist Orthodontics, smile makeovers and oral surgery – but I soon realised I love being involved with the clinic side of dentistry. I love the work we do here at Changing Faces® and seeing the impact it has on our patients’ lives. Being part of that journey with patients from when they walk through the door with whatever problems they may have, to when they leave beaming with their new smiles and confidence, is what drives me to continue working to the best of my ability and to ensure I am always giving 100%.
