Simon Smart, Consultant Anaesthetist
FRCA
I qualified from University College London and continued my medical training in the Midlands. I then completed my Specialist training within the Birmingham School of Anaesthesia and I have been a Consultant Anaesthetist at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham since 2007. My clinical interests include Anaesthesia and Sedation for Maxillofacial Surgery.
More recently I have joined the Changing Faces® Dentistry team. We frequently meet people with a dental phobia, who put off vital treatment and even get anxious just thinking about a visit to the dentist. That’s why we designed a sedation service to help take away some of our patients’ anxiety, by using sedative medication to help them relax during dental procedures. For many patients, this now means they can conquer their fears and achieve the smile of their dreams.
We offer a number of different levels of sedation, based on each patient’s individual needs. Patient safety is our paramount concern, and we ensure stringent monitoring throughout the procedure. I work with all the clinicians at Changing Faces, especially when patients have chosen treatment for the Same Day Teeth procedure.
