SMILES | Immediate Dentures
An immediate denture is a complete denture or partial denture inserted on the same day as the removal of natural teeth.
Who are they for?
This type of denture is especially important for those patients facing the imminent loss of all or some of their remaining teeth. Our aim with this service is to help you feel happier and more self-assured during the transition to a new or replacement denture. Other names for this type of denture are ‘interim’ or ‘provisional’.
You wont have to wait several weeks for your mouth to heal after your tooth extractions, or feel self-conscious while your denture is being made. Before your natural teeth are removed, our experts can create your immediate denture that is ready to wear on the same day as your treatment. When your unhealthy teeth are removed, you will then be fitted with your immediate denture straight away to give you the confidence you need.
What should I expect?
It may take up to 12 weeks for your extraction sites to heal. During this time your immediate denture may become increasingly loose. You can be confident that our experts are on hand to modify and improve the fit of your denture during this time. Immediate dentures are not designed for the long term and would be provided as part of a wider treatment plan that may include a final set of conventional or implant-assisted dentures.
Restoring Your Smile Straight Away
When natural teeth are removed, the gums need several weeks to heal, and it takes time for conventional dentures to be made. Some patient’s worry they will be left without teeth during this time, but as soon as our Dentist has removed your teeth, we can provide you with immediate dentures to use straightaway.
Immediate Complete or Partial Dentures
We will have created an immediate complete or immediate partial denture before your natural teeth are extracted. This ensures it’s ready-to-wear on the same day of your tooth extraction. Your immediate denture can be inserted into your mouth straight after your unhealthy teeth have been removed.
Can I choose dental implants?
In most cases, you will be able to have dental implants but it may be up to 12 weeks after the removal of your teeth before the implants can be placed. Rest assured you’ll be in skilled hands with our Clinical Dental Technicians who will co-ordinate all your treatment and be on hand to make this transition as comfortable as possible.
