That fresh from-the-hygienist feeling is one of the best things about visiting the dentist.
But the experience of a scale and polish with traditional dental instruments isn’t always pleasant. Guided Biofilm Therapy changes that —offering a deeper clean in less than half the time of a traditional scale and polish using gentle airflow technology.

Gum Health=Great Health
Studies show that up to 90% of the UK population could be living with gum disease. This is bad news for oral health and our general health.
A growing body of evidence shows a link between oral health and physical health conditions like cardiovascular disease, high blood pressure, strokes and more. Other shared risk factors, including lifestyle choices such as smoking, can increase the chance of gum disease and poor overall health. But here’s great news—GBT keeps the biofilm under control, improves oral health and reduces the risk from linked systemic health conditions.
-
Heart Disease
Studies have shown patients with gum disease are twice as likely to die from heart attack and three times as likely to suffer a fatal stroke than those with healthy gums.
-
Diabetes
Diabetics are at increased risk of gum disease, and gum disease can also worsen the symptoms of diabetes by making it more difficult for the body to regulate glucose.
-
Alzheimer’s
Gum disease and tooth loss are linked to an increased risk of cognitive decline and Alzheimer’s disease. Periodontal disease can also worsen the symptoms of Alzheimer’s.
-
Atherosclerosis
Bacteria from the teeth and gums can travel through the bloodstream, contributing to blocked arteries (atherosclerosis)—a major cause of cardiovascular problems.
-
Rheumatoid Arthritis
People with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) are up to eight times more likely to develop gum disease—and gum disease has been shown to worsen the painful symptoms of RA.
-
Pregnancy Complications
Advanced gum disease—or periodontitis—has been linked to several pregnancy complications, including pre-term birth and low birth weight.
-
Cancer
Gum disease increases the risk of serious cancer. It is linked to head and neck cancer and has been shown to increase the risk of kidney cancer by 62%.
Why GBT?
Comfortable, fast and effective—patients love the fresh feeling of guided biofilm therapy. And it’s comfortable and convenient, too!
Book an appointmentCleans Deep
GBT’s unique three-stage cleaning action targets the teeth, tongue and gums, ridding the mouth of bacteria that contributes to plaque build-up and decay. It’s a hygiene experience unlike any other.
No Pain
Patients report that GBT is much more comfortable than the traditional scale and polish—with no scraping or sharp instruments involved.
The Fast Hygiene Treatment
GBT cuts down the average time of a deep clean from 20 minutes to around 7, with results that last much longer too.
How GBT Works
GBT targets the bacteria coating every surface of our mouth—tongue, teeth, and gums—with a gentle yet powerful flow of air and water.
Because GBT is so gentle, we can use it to clean dental appliances and delicate cosmetic work like veneers and crowns.
Smiles for Life for All with EMS
Unlike conventional hygiene cleaning, EMS Airflow® is gentle, low-abrasive and minimally invasive. This makes it a much more comfortable treatment and also means it’s kinder to all dental tissues found in the mouth, as well as restorations and appliances.
Enamel
When allowed to accumulate, biofilm on the teeth’s outer enamel causes a yellowish buildup followed by decay, caries and cavities. EMS rids the teeth of biofilm to keep smiles naturally healthy.
Dentine & Cementum
EMS’ non-abrasive action preserves dentine and cementum—the layers of hard and connective tissues found under the tooth’s enamel.
Gums
The gums are another site where biofilm can collect and harden into calculus and plaque. EMS cleans delicate gum tissue with minimum abrasion and maximum comfort to stop harmful bacteria in its tracks.
Fixed Braces
The bonded brackets and wires of fixed orthodontic braces make the perfect home for bacteria. While fixed braces are often too delicate for conventional hygiene deep cleaning, they pose no problem for EMS.
Crowns and Bridges
If you have porcelain crowns or bridges, you won’t want to risk damaging them with regular abrasive hygiene treatments. Regular cleaning with EMS’ gentle Airflow® action preserves and prolongs the lifespan of delicate restorations.
Dental Implants
Regular, gentle cleaning with EMS protects your investment by effectively managing plaque, reducing the risk of peri-implantitis and extending your implants’ lifetime.
